WordPress stuck on “Briefly Unavailable for scheduled maintenance.” page

 

Because of an internet connectivity issue or click by mistake or navigation in the middle of the WordPress upgrade etc, you can stuck on a WordPress page which says it is beriefly unavailable for a scheduled maintenance. It is very easy to fix this.

Causes:

  1. Navigating away while upgrading WordPress or components.
  2. Internet connectivity issues.
  3. Page timeouts

Steps to fix the briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance error page:

  1. Login to the file manager or filezilla or Winscp to view, access and change the files.
  2. Enable showing hidden files.
  3. Locate .maintenance file in the root folder of the WordPress instalallation, where the wp-contents folder is located.
  4. Now, rename the .maintenance file to 1.maintenance1.
  5. This should fix the issues.
